6 Tips for Summer Stressed Hair

Summer is in full swing and boy, it's hot outside!  Whether your swimming at the pool or beach, or hanging out on a hot Summer's day, and our tresses can really take a toll. Especially if your hair is relaxed and /or colored.

Here are a few tips to care for your hair.

1.  Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!  Just like you would moisturize your skin, do the same for your hair.

2. Use less heat.  I've been opting to let my hair air dry when possible.  I notice that my hair much softer and doesn't feel as dry.

3. If swimming, make sure to wear a swim cap. It will keep your lovely locks from being dried out by the chlorine.

4. Wear protective styles like braids or cornrows. Braids keep you head cool as well.  Just make sure they're not too tight.

5. Use sulfate free shampoos. They're more gentle on your hair.

6. When possible, go natural.  Natural and organic products are just going to be better for your hair all around.

  1. Excellent tips and covers everything. The other thing I do is make my own conditioning spray using essential oils and leave in conditioner in water.

    1. Ooh, that's a good one. You can save a lot by doing it yourself.
