5 Easy Ways to Transition from Winter to Spring

Happy first day of spring! I am so glad it's finally here. I can't wait to hear the birds chirping and smell the fresh flowers in the breeze. But here in the Midwest, we have a while before spring will officially show up.

Today is supposed to be a balmy 52° and this week will bring us more 50° weather. That's really warm for us here in Minnesota. Our usual high temperature is somewhere in the 40s. Plus, you never know when we're going to get dumped with a fresh coat of spring snow.

Anywho, it's time to start thinking about how to transition your look from winter to spring. I've come up with a few tips for getting your winter wardrobe spring ready.

5 Easy Ways to Transition from Winter to Spring

1. First things first. Stop wearing dark winter clothing like black, brown, navy, and burgundy hues. Pull out the lighter colors like pink, yellow, orange, turquoise, in pastel or bold versions. You'll find that your mood will be lifted as well as those around you.

2. Put your heavy wool sweaters and fabrics in the back of your closet and replace with lighter cotton and more flowy blouses like tunics. Layer with a tank top and scarf to keep warm on chilly days.

3. Another tip would be to stop wearing your huge winter coat.  Instead, layer your Spring coat with a light cardigan or jean jacket. Use your spring scarves instead of thick, wool ones.

4. Choose lighter makeup shades.  Go for soft pink, peach, and lilac makeup instead of the dark plum lipstick that was so popular last Fall/Winter. Also, do the same for your nails. No more vampy nails and heaven forbid black nails.

5. Lastly, update your bath and body products with fresh, fruity or floral scents.  Put the vanilla, musk, and amber away for next fall.

What is the weather like in your neck of the woods? How do you like to get your wardrobe ready for spring?

  1. I like number 5 best. I intend on switching to floral scents. That always reminds me spring is in the air.

    1. Me too. I think that's the easiest way to welcome spring.

  2. I need more floral pieces for sure. I like number five. Scent is everything when it comes to season change.

  3. I live in California and it's never that cold out here so when it's 80 degrees in January, you get to enjoy Spring/Summer like weather in the winter. I think that wearing light colors are great and I'm all for that, however, I am cool on the floral prints. LOL!

  4. It is amazing how much a change in color can reflect the change in season. From our wardrobe to our makeup, colors are seasonal. Ive never considered changing my cologne as well. Thanks for sharing your tips.

  5. Spring definitely calls for lighter brighter colors. All the blacks and browns bring down my level of cheer.

  6. Great tips. I need to start wearing my light hues. They are buried in my closet somewhere :)

  7. We went from cold to balmy for a week with temps reaching the 80s. Then back to cold and rainy. Spring can be a bit unpredictable. I do love cardigans, a light jacket for spring. I am all about a good pair of jeans or colored pant for spring. Happy spring.

  8. I'm so ready for the spring! I want to branch out of my comfort zone and wear more bright colors this spring and summer. Great tips!

Holla at your girl!
