My Black Friday trip | STACIE RAYE

My Black Friday trip

My Black Friday trip went pretty well today. I woke up at 5:30am to head over to Target. I didn't have much problem getting in and out of their store. Besides the minor pile up by electronics, the store was somewhat quiet.

That was not true for Walmart, which was next on my list. There were a few items that I wanted to try and grab. Well, I waited about 30 minutes to find a parking space and witnessed a small fender-bender in the process. With not a cart in site, I decided to grab what I could hold in my arms and be done.

I also enjoyed free breakfast at Sam's Club as well as IKEA, ( I was a bit hungry). My shopping endeavours ended at the Mall of America for a few gifts and I picked up my free Curly Fry from Arby's. (Sign up for their email list for freebies like this).

All in all, it wasn't bad. I think when you leave prepared to stand in lines, prepared that you may not find a good parking spot and so on, you have a better attitude about it when it does happen. I also prayed about it, and that always helps.

I found that handing out treats helped tremendously. I heard somewhere of a lady that buys little candy canes and gives them to cashiers and anyone who looks like they could use some holiday cheer. So picked up a box from the dollar store and was on my way. As I talked with people in line, or chatted with the cashiers, I handed them a treat and people were genuinely appreciative and everyone smiled or chuckled. One lady said I made her day.

It was a blessing to me to know that on one of the most stressful shopping days of the year that I could make someone smile. It made all the waiting I did a little easier.

So my tip for the day would be to think of someone else when your out and about. Holiday shopping can be difficult at times and requires a lot of kindness and much patience. Purchase little candy canes and keep them in your pocket. Many people said that it was just what they needed, and trust me, that will put a smile on your face!

  1. Stacie thanks for following my blog. And the candy cane hand out was a wonderful thing to do and I truly believe that you did make some peoples day. What a sweet thought.

  2. Stacie I enjoyed reading your blog about your Black Friday outing. Your story was certainly more pleasant than the ones I heard on KFAN while riding to MOA with my hubby and kids.
Thanks for starting a blog to keep us informed on deals and coupons. I've always wanted to use coupons, but by the time I remembered to do so they would have expired. Again thanks for thinking of us all.

  3. This is the most positive story I've heard about Black Friday. Just reading this made my day! Thank you!

  4. Aww...thanks everyone for your sweet comments. I plan to give out candy canes as I continue to shop this season and I will definitely do it again next year!

Holla at your girl!
