PrayerWalk Book Review

Lately, I've been taking advantage of the summer by taking more walks.  I'm on a bit of a health kick and am trying to shed a pound or two(or 5 or 6).  When I'm walking, I always seem to feel more close to God.  I love to look at the sky the clouds, the flowers.  All of the sights and sounds just bring me closer to Him.
So when I heard of a book called   by Janet McHenry, I knew it would be something I would love to read.
In this book, Janet shares her own personal story of how she started paryerwalking.  She encourages readers to make time to meet God through prayerwalking.  And since we live in such a troubled world, there is no shortage of things to pray about.
She gives a few ideas on how you can make time for prayer walking-

*Go to bed sooner and wake up earlier
*Prayerwalk to  work instead of driving or taking the bus
*PrayerWalk during your lunch break

The author also gives some compelling physical reasons for walking-

*Walking reduces the risk of dying prematurely from Heart Disease
*It reduces the risk of developing diabetes
*it reduces the risk of breast Cancer
*It also combats obesity

The book also has sections that give examples of stretches to do before you walk, gives you prayer targets and topic ideas.

My thoughts:

I think this is a good book for anyone who wants to lose weight by walking and also longs for a deeper prayer life.  My favorite part of the book is when Janet shares her personal struggle with fear and how she overcame it through prayerwalking.  Definitely a few tips that I'm going to use.

Disclosure: I received this book in exchange for my honest review.  All opinions are my own.

  1. I love looking at nature and the quiteness when walking. It clears my mind and fives me a chance to reflect on His goodness and listen to him. I could use a walk. LOL

Holla at your girl!
