'Tis The Season - Making Your Black Friday Shopping Easier

Welcome to the first post of my new series called "Tis The Season", just in time for Christmas.  I will share a few tips I have come to learn about keeping the holidays merry.

I consider myself a seasoned Black Friday shopper, but things gave changed dramatically in the last few years.  Now that stores are open on Thanksgiving, you really don't have to fight the crowds on Black Friday like you use to.  In fact, you can stay right at home and turn on your computer after cooking that big meal, and snag the deals.  Here are a few other tips for easier holiday shopping this weekend.

1. Personally, I would skip the Thanksgiving day shopping if you can.  I do understand that some deals are just plain hard to beat, but you may just be able to still score those same deals by visiting the store online. Many websites are offering free shipping and Walmart will ship to the store.

2. Support your local small business on Small Business Saturday.  Indie businesses often get forgotten in all the Black Friday hoopla, so make sure to stop by and make a purchase at your favorite local shop and keep your money flowing in your own neighborhood.

3. Take advantage of Cyber Monday bargains.  Some of the best deals online will be found on the Monday following Thanksgiving.  Just make sure you shop on your lunch break. ;)

4. Avoid shopping this weekend at all!  Gasp! I know you're thinking, "Oh no she didn't".  Yes honey child, I did!  It turns out that Black Friday often isn't the best day to get deals.  Wait closer to Christmas and the deals start getting crazy!  Just keep in mind that the selection may be picked over.
