If you want more info on how to take care of winter nails, keep reading! It’s wintertime and we know that we should winterize our skin, but what about our nails? They need special care in the colder months as well.
Our nails can crack and peel in colder months and those cuticles? Sis, they can be dry and painful if we don’t take care of them.
So today we’ll be taking a look at winter nail care tips. I’ll share how to take care of nails in the winter and update your nails with a color that is in the moment.
A Winter Color Palette
The usual color palette of icy blues, dark reds, classic metallics like gold and silvers for the holidays are great for the winter season. From hot chocolate browns to winter whites nails these winter nail trends will look great on your nails this season. The glazed donut nail trend will also continue to be hot in 2023.
How to Take Care of Winter Nails 2023
You don’t need to go to a salon to get your nails done. Listen, I’ll show you how you can do your nails in the comfort of your own home.
Clip and shape
First, file your nails to your desired length. I like a short, active length. I find they look nicer and grow better when they are at this length. This will also keep them from growing too long and becoming brittle.
Use a cuticle remover
Next, be sure to use a cuticle remover. I admit, I often skip this step, but your nails will look so much better if you do.
Take care of your cuticles
Give your nails a nice soak. Then use a cuticle pusher and gently push back the cuticles. You can use an orange stick for this as well.
Carefully clean up your nails
Buff and clip those cuticles and hangnails. Be gentle though, you don’t want to overdo it.
Don’t skip moisturizing your cuticles
Remember to moisturize your cuticles often. Use a cuticle oil at least twice a day to keep them healthy and soft.
Moisturize your hands often
Follow up with a good hand moisturizer and keep it handy for use throughout the day.
Follow these easy tips and you will have happy healthy nails for winter!

I love the ILSA color. Very rich!
Me too! I debated about painting my nails this deep, navy blue.
This is definitely true. Thanks for the reminder Stacie.
You're welcome, Nicole! It's easy to forget about taking care of our nails.
I like Kiki… each of the colors are really nice.
Kiki is very cute. I don't think I have have a color like this, but I should!

Thank you. It's not the exact color, but pretty close.
I really need to take better care of my nails during the winter months. They have been chipping a lot but that could be due to me moving. #ProductReviewParty
You moved? Can't wait to hear about it. I notice my nails chip the more physical I am as well.
I like to keep my nails the same length/style as yours. Short enough to not get in the way, but still pretty.
I wish mine could stay nice I'm always doing something that breaks them. I need to moisturize them more often especially with all the hand washing. Great tips!
I've been slacking on my nail care and my cuticles have gotten real raggedy. I need that Julep Vanish in my life. 🙂
My cuticles definitely need some TLC. I am going to take care of them try this weekend..#BLMGirls
Great tips! Now if I can only get my nails to grow. For some reason they always seem to tear and break. Any tips on nail growth? #BLMgirl
Good tips and I love the winter colors! Never thought of some of the darker colors to use during winter.
Good tips. I've never given much thought to winterizing my nails. I love the colors. My favorite is "Shari". #BLMgirl
Definitely cool colors! I have been hearing a lot of great things about Julep!
Love these color choices. I prefer neutrals 99% of the time but a dramatic dark color or a pop of something bright is always fun.
